Florida Residents, Is An Annual Pass Perfect For You?

You have become a Florida resident or maybe been here a while debating an annual pass. Is it worth it?

I live about a two hour drive from Walt Disney World. It's just close enough for a day trip, weekend escapes, and an occasional week long move in. I try to visit at least 4-6 times a year at various trip lengths. I opted for the Disney Sorcerer Pass with the added $110 photo pass. This pass covers when I typically like to visit (week days and weekends) and I have no problems obtaining visits to exceed breaking even on my annual pass investment. I even plan to renew my annual pass when my pass comes due.

On the high end, a day ticket can run $200 and a hopper ticket almost $300. There are four annual pass options that give a variety of perks and prices:

  • Disney Pixie Dust Pass: For $489 + tax, get a week day pass for visiting Walt Disney World.

  • Disney Pirate Pass: $869+ tax is good for most days in the park. It does have blackout dates for many holidays, the spring break time frame, and peak summer days.

  • Disney Sorcerer Pass: $1,099 + tax is the most flexible Florida Resident annual pass with blackout date for just the Christmas and New Years holiday season.

  • Disney Incredi-Pass $1,629 + tax is the top tier annual pass with no blackout days.

The Pixie Dust, Pirate, Sorcerer Passes are only available to Florida residents. The Disney Incredi-Pass is available to anyone.

Choosing a pass will depend on how often and when you plan to go, as the passes have blackout dates. Breaking even on your pass purchase would be 3 visits during the week for Pixie, 5 for Pirate, 6 for Sorcerer, and 9 for Incredi. These visit don't include the opportunities for savings while on your trip. The annual passes also provide discounts. 10% at most sit down restaurants, 20% at most merchandise locations, and varying hotel discount deals.

My mom, who isn't in to Disney as much, opts for resident day ticket deals. She went for the first time in about 30 some years back in May. She is making plans for April and plans on the same styled ticket. This works for her as she doesn't go often enough for the value of the higher tier annual passes.

How often do you go to Disney? Which pass level would you consider?
