The Central Florida Oversight District & Disney Have Reached An Agreement Over $17 Billion Investments
The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) have voted on and approved a development agreement with Walt Disney World. Under this agreement Disney will be spending $17 billion in investments and development over the next ten to 20 years. The agreement includes 17,300 acres of Disney-owned land that will permit a fifth park (maximum), a maximum of 5 minor theme parks (ex: another water park), office space, and restaurant or retail space along with over 50,000 hotels rooms.
Disney has agreed to fund at “at least $10 million in affordable housing” in the area. And the final term was that Disney must award a minimum of 50% of all construction work to Florida-based businesses.
We’re not sure exactly what this means but it is positive news for Disney! I guess we’ll have to wait until the D23 convention in Anaheim in August. As always, we’ll bring you the latest updates!
