Disney Parks Blog has just dropped some wheely interesting news about the upcoming Cars area at the Magic Kingdom. Piston Peak National Park will be the newest area coming to Frontierland and is inspired by the Rocky Mountain area, the American Frontier, and the national parks. The current geyser field at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be extended into the new Cars area and guests will be able to walk along the field’s pathways to check out the pools. Just like Old Faithful at Yellowstone National Park, Piston Peak will feature ‘Old Tank Full’, its own timed geyser eruption.

Along with the new car’s “rally race” trails, Piston Peak National Park will also feature a visitor lodge called Ranger HQ. Ranger J. Autobahn, the Piston Peak National Park mascot animatronic will welcome guests into the upcoming rally race ride preshow. Ranger was inspired by J. Audubon Woodlore from the Donald Duck and Humphrey Bear shorts.

This new land also means the closure of the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer’s Island, and the Liberty Bell at the Magic Kingdom. The last day of operation is July 6th. Also, after July 6th the Walt Disney World Railroad will only operate between Main Street and Fantasyland. Again, we’ll be experiencing a multi-year closure of the railroad until the completion of the upcoming Villains land.

Which update from the new updates to Frontierland are you looking forward to most at Piston Peak National Park?
