D23 announcements highlight the details surrounding the largest Magic Kingdom expansion.
On Saturday, August 10th, Disney Experiences Chairman, Josh D'Amaro, gave Walt Disney World Fans so many updates that they've been asking for. The largest expansion to the Magic Kingdom is set to break ground and with it we are seeing a new land, a reimagined land and additional experiences in the park.
For Frontierland, guest will be transported to "The American West" with an expansion that includes bringing Pixar's "Cars" to the Magic Kingdom. While Disneyland will continue to be home to Cars Land and a brought-to-life Radiator Springs, Walt Disney World will explore new opportunities to bring this move to life. To keep this expansion driving forward, the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island will be transformed into the the rugged terrains for a new rally race with our iconic racing friends from Cars. In telling the stories from Cars, Imagineers are looking to bring park goers on a ride-a-long through the mountain, trails, and dodging geysers that make up the American West. This area will include a second attraction gear towards those still working on getting their learners permit.
For years, Disney fans have been wondering what Walt Disney World will do with the land knowns as "Beyond Big Thunder Mountain." The speculations are over as Disney has announced an all new land dedicated to the Disney Villains. This area will bring to life the characters that challenge our favorite Disney Heroes. This large acreage of land will include two major attractions, dining and shops. This will be a first-of-its-kind land pushing the boundaries of dark and wicked within the Magic Kingdom.
Are you looking forward to these reimagined areas that will contribute to the largest expansion in the Magic Kingdom's park history?
