Disney's Animal Kingdom Gorilla Receives Expert Care After Tooth Injury

Western lowland gorilla Kejana undergoes successful dental surgery and full health check at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Kejana, the beloved western lowland gorilla who’s captured hearts on the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail at Disney's Animal Kingdom since opening day, recently received top-tier veterinary care at Disney’s on-site animal hospital. After fracturing a canine tooth, Disney's Animal Kingdom veterinary team skillfully removed the damaged tooth providing much needed relief and care for the resident silverback.

Since the gorilla was already being treated for his tooth, the team also took the opportunity to perform a full CT scan, blood tests, and a cardiac ultrasound during his visit. These thorough diagnostics reflect the proactive and detail-oriented care Disney provides for its Animal Kingdom residents. Be sure to catch a train ride out to Rafiki's Planet Watch on your next Animal Kingdom visit where you may have an opportunity to watch this amazing veterinarian team in action.
