EPCOT & nearby resorts welcome back migratory birds in an annual celebration of conservation and magic
The magic of nature takes flight once again at Walt Disney World as purple martins complete their awe-inspiring migration from the Brazilian Amazon. These stunning songbirds have traveled more than 3,000 miles to nest in custom-designed birdhouses at EPCOT and several Disney Resort hotels, continuing a beloved tradition since 1998. Disney’s Environmental Sciences team works closely to monitor the birds’ progress, providing safe havens and even hosting educational events, like Purple Martin Palooza, to engage guests and promote wildlife conservation.
Through efforts supported by the Disney Conservation Fund, Disney Cast Members are helping to protect the future of purple martins and countless other species. With declining natural habitats, initiatives like this ensure that these beautiful birds can thrive for generations to come. Be sure to keep your eyes (and ears!) open as you explore EPCOT this spring—you just might witness a true conservation success story in action with the purple martins at Walt Disney World!
Have you ever spotted the charming purple martins during your Walt Disney World adventures?

There were a lot of these cool bird houses, on the walking path between Saratoga Springs and Old Key West. It took us a little while to work out what they were for. Great work by Disney though with this conservation effort. Such pretty birds too!
